In Roman mythology, Athena was the mother of the Roman people and through her son Aeneas, survived the fall of troy and fled to Italy.
The revers side of the coin shows Victory driving a three-horse chariot. Victory was the goddess that guides other gods and heroes during their elpoloits. Victory was a Roman goddess who was polular with the Roman army. The three horse chariot or triga is rarely dipicted on the republican coinage.
